Meet HardBoiled

My original online moniker is based entirely on my real full name, coined directly out of wordplay. It is a misnomer. My character isn't really as strong as the name suggests, even when I display extremely aggressive behavior on Peyups.com. Nonetheless, I think the name is still appropriate for me, if only because I'm always on hot water.

Someone had said that at one point in a person's lifetime, the person had to make a crucial decision that will either make or break his/her future. For me, it happened when I entered college. It took many years for me to realize I chose the wrong decision.

I received the admission letters, I got my student number (98- followed by 5 of the first six counting numbers), I was admitted to my preferred course (BS Math) and I have an offer for a scholarship. The future looked so bright. Just then, a few weeks later, I received another letter, this time for a study grant for Geodetic Eng'g. I dismissed the offer, but my parents noticed it and took it with great interest.

In the end, I decided to take the GE course, albeit with a bit of hesitation, out of respect for my parents and my own indecision. It initially appeared to be a harmless decision. After all, Eng'g is still a math and science-oriented course, and I can safely say that those were my fields of expertise.

The first year passed uneventfully. But just when I thought I'm finally settled, my college life had suddenly shifted by 180o. The course took its toll on me by preying on my biggest weakness. GE was a group-oriented course, for which my reclusive personality would be having trouble adjusting to.

It had begun. My status got reduced to various acronyms. It's odd, my adviser noticed the 1's I got for my Math's and Physics, followed by a succession of 5's. I had never recovered. Seven years later, I just gave up the fight. I didn't have a choice.

Meet *selenakyle*

The Cat Whisperer - that's how i'm known, both online and offline, and that's why i've picked out a pseudonym from the alterego of one of the best-known cat whisperers in popular culture - Selena Kyle, otherwise known as Catwoman, the feline antihero of the Batman-lore.

My 3 year-old blog has a few (and cryptic) references to my personal life, but hopefully, despite this guardedness, others will find readables in subjects I write more often about - interior design, TV, film, music, pop culture, random observations, consumer complaints, ocassional forays into photography, my very vivid, strange and sometimes clairvoyant dreams, and my coming out as an animal rights and environmental activist.

There are, of course, what the blog title suggests, cat whisperings and tales from our house cat, Figaro. Though I may alternate between a Selena and Catwoman personalities from time to time (excluding the manner of dress, which is neither), one thing is constant - I understand cats and I know they'll come to bring me back to life (in one form or another) when that time comes.

selenakyle has been an active peyups poster since 2003 and visible on TV & Movies, Music, Life After UP, Fashion Beauty & Lifestyle, Food & Travel, and Computers & Technology. She graduated from the College of Mass Communication and is currently on what she calls a career hiatus-slash-crossroads (her second, actually). She loves anything remotely creative and has been a yoga convert for a year now.

Meet Leela

Leela is a Journalism graduate from UPD and also has a MBA degree from AGSB. She works as a corporate communication officer for a Filipino multinational company. She is also an avid eBayer.

The nick Leela was taken from a major character in Futurama named Turanga Leela, a cyclopean alien and the captain of the Planet Express Ship. Her former nick is Scully, a major female character from 90s' hit series X-Files. Her basis of choosing nicks is simple: a strong female character that she admires.

Leela is an active member of Peyups (Lord of the Threads) because she loves the anonymity the site provides (and the Internet, in general). She’s a very private person and she really doesn’t like socializing that much (proof: proud orgless siya in college and grad school). Peyups provides her an avenue to talk with other people without the feeling that she has to be friends with everybody. The same is true why she blogs.

She became quite notorious in Peyups in the RIP: Rudy Fernandez thread when she posted that she wished it was Jinggoy who died instead of Daboy. What ensued was a lot of mudslinging thrown at her and blue_spirit had to lock the thread and publicly reprimanded her. The incident affirmed her belief that because of the anonymity that the Net provides, people are more confident in showing their true selves and bringing out their sharp claws and fangs. They say character is what you are in the dark but Leela says character is what you are in the discussion boards. :)

Meet suicidedoll

Out of all the Peyups Webring bloggers, I'm probably the least active poster. So, this is my first post and I apologize for any incoherence coz I'm currently jet-lagged. XD

I am currently a fourth year-slash-third year student at UP Manila. I shifted courses; however, I'm supposed to be a comsci student at UPLB. I just requested a transfer of campus to UPM that's why I'm here. Funny thing is, my previous and present course is totally unrelated to comsci, though I feel like I really belong to comsci (andaming comsci nun ah).

I've been blogging for several years now. If I remember correctly, I started blogging when I was in my first year of HS. I'm the type of blogger who shifts between English and Tagalog every now and then.I don't usually practice proper capitalization when blogging, but since this IS the peyups webring, aba, kailangang lumebel! :D

I'm a self-confessed fan of Japanese culture. I am a huuuuuuuge fan of jrock bands X Japan and L'Arc~en~Ciel, jdoramas, koreanovelas, and shoujo mangas. I dream of being lost in translation in Tokyo someday :P I can survive an entire week with just food, my laptop and a fast internet connection to keep me company.

Before, I only lurk in the forums. I only became active recently. Why the username? Well, I need a change of username since most of the time, I only use the same username for different sites. And, it has something to do with my past. :P

If you want to know more about me, go here. :)

Meet B-side

Hello! I am a graduate of Communication Research back in 2003 and now a graduate student of Sociology, both in UPD. I left the corporate world where I slaved away for five years and I am now a full-time student with some volunteer and part-time work on the side.

I think I am a frustrated writer, hence, blogging became the next best thing. I have had several blogs and never stuck with one probably because I 've never arrived with a solid purpose of why I blog. At present, I blog at e=mc^2 where I finally stopped being incognito, to a certain extent. In this blog, I write about everything that I am involved in and feel strongly about - encompassing film, music, academe, technology, literature in the forms of journal, poetry, essay, etc.

I am an avid consumer of mass media - music, films, technology, audiobooks, the internet. I am OC when it comes to grammar, was never good at procastinating, a bookworm; all in all, a nerd but not in the genius sense of the word. I love eating, swimming and sometimes yields to the deadly sin of vanity.

I joined peyups back in April of 2003 which means I've been posting for six years in that forum already. Wow. Who knew?

^_^

Meet rdangel

Okay, let me start first. Since this is the peyups webring, I’ll post something related about me and UP. I’m a BSCE graduate (class 2006) from UPD. Right now, I’m working as an engineer in one of the country’s premiere developers. Although you might say that I’m a math and science guy, I actually love writing. And writing na rin.

I also love music, movies and tech stuff. Kaya mostly, those are the topics of my blog. Actually, if you want to know more personal bits and pieces about me, visit my personal blog. Here’s the link: radicalmind.multiply.com. Yung blogger account ko kasi is more business-oriented as I’m planning to profit from it. Ayun, one more thing about me is that I’m really business-minded. Hindi lang halata.

Sa peyups, hindi ko talaga alam impression sa akin ng mga tao. Perhaps, kayo makakapagsabi sa akin nun.
